“Adventures on the Bonsai Tree” is an illustrative short story that celebrates my grandfather’s life and portrays a dream-like world that follows a girl and her grandfather's journey through the fictional lands that lay behind the foliage of a grand bonsai tree.
This project was exhibited as part of UCLA's 2022 Design Media Arts Undergraduate Show.
I began this project after my grandfather's passing in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. I was deeply impacted by this sudden loss as I had no way to be with him during his last few days. My grandfather was one of the most treasured people in my life and many of my earliest memories encapsulate the deep relationship that I had with him. This story is very loosely inspired by my grandfather's recollection of his childhood adventures.
